A night in Bristol

I forgot to my camera, because I am a dodo bird so this blog won't have very many exciting pictures. Just some I found on my crummy not so up-to-date phone. K?!

The weekend of the 20th April, Christina and I with some good friends Elliot and his missus Charlie, hit the Bristol city for the HIT THE DECK FESTIVAL! Nothing beats live music and recently I have been embracing the live music scene with my friends and I am totally enjoying it! I think I am enjoying it more because I am getting away from my town and going to new places. I am also enjoying it because it gives me something to write on here. You guys have no idea how my life can be so boring! Or maybe you do?

Normally when I go to a festival or a major gigging event, I intend to avoid the alcohol (I still should, you'll read why), but this weekend was going to be different. Me and Christina thought it would be a nice change of a weekend for us to book a Travelodge and to go mad on the drinking game and have a ruddy good ol' time!
Or as me and Christina do it, have a few drinks until we feel nice and giddy and be in bed by 11 (which is when the last band played)! A good weekend all around. The highlights was the bands that played! And this is the bands I listened to that weekend:

  • We Are The In Crowd
  • We Are The Ocean
  • Landscapes
  • Natives
  • Army Of Freshman
  • Canterbury
And I am pretty sure there was some more, but I can't remember their names or if they are worth listening to.
But this is how my weekend went:
We took the train up to Bristol, after some serious consideration about it, it just made sense and be a lot cheaper to just take the train up to Bristol. Instead of me driving my beautiful Petra (Yes, I name my  cars) to Bristol, having to pay for petrol, car parking and having to drink within moderation! So the train was the best option, which I don't mind. I love riding the train, it makes me feel old fashion and I can look at the scenery any time I like! I had to make sure I was up at 6 am to top up my crazy new hair dye.. That was fun, still not sure how I managed to get blue hair dye on my bedroom window sill?!
Now we made it to Bristol, queued up to get our wristbands, which proved to be quite a nuisance because the darling ticket company I brought my ticket from didn't send ours in the freakin' post! So waiting, fist shaking and chatting to guys who was issuing the wristbands, we got our wrist bands and was heading for the first destination. Which just so happened to be FOOD! Omg, I was so hungry and boy was I craving some fruit smoothie or something. Frozen yoghurt satisfied me so much! YUM !
We checked into our hotel, which was a 2 minute walk from one of the venues, also known as "The Fleece" worth checking it out. As I really do like that place and I would recommend any band to play there, because I would try to be there as well!

Then it was time to have a proper meal, before actually seeing the bands (As listed above) we really wanted to see.
Now, this is where I strongly recommend that when you are dressing in the "cliché" for the event you are attending, I would stay clear of Italian or any known interesting dinning. Because that is what me and Christina did. We was dressed in our typical "gigging" outfit, which normally consist of some "Chucks" Converses to you, skinnies and a typical dark tee. Pizza Express will hide you at the back and in a corner, preferably behind a wall where no one can see. But to hell with Pizza Express! We wanted a decent glass of Italian wine (when you've been to Italy, you'll understand why!) and that is excatly what me and Christina did. Boy was we happy, you'll know why when you have had a crap bottle of wine and then have a great glass of wine! Wine is the best. Ok, I love going out to see live music but it has to be done with a good glass of wine beforehand. Now after the most funny experience of being dined out at Pizza Express and chatting about our future, what we want to do etc etc.
We finally went to The Fleece, The Thekla and the O2 academy! Well, we lasted about 10 minutes in The Fleece, because The Thekla was a bloody ass boat! Again, Christina and I are like a couple of children when unleashed on new things. Boy, did we love that boat! That was where we watched the bands, Natives, Army of Freshman and Canterbury. All those bands are worth searching and listening to! After that we went to the Academy, where we watched We Are The Ocean, We Are The In Crowd and Don Brocco!

Heres the great thing about being a twitter addicted and a FB addict (god forbid me to ever sign up to tumblr!) because being a constant checker, I managed to see that We Are The In Crowd was having a signing moment! So, getting some poster for the band to sign became the best idea ever! I never had the experience of lining up and walking along a row where the band is in front of me, pen in hand signing this poster I just so happen to have. IT WAS SO TOTALLY FAN GIRLING AWESOME!
So, I thought I want to be cool. I want to be one of those people that would stick out and say something to the guys about how awesome their music is and much I love them, "Lets be friends" moment. Bear in mind, I was a little bit drunk and all I could say to Taylor the singer was.... "I really like your signature!"

Yeah, I really shouldn't be allowed to talk to bands or any kind of people when drunk. Although, she did say thank you to me. So I am happy we had a conversing moment. Go me.

That ladies and gentlemen was my exciting day! I am really tired and should be in bed sleeping. I really don't have anything planned for the next few weeks. I am sure I will end up posting something up very soon!
I KNOW. A post on books I would like to recommend for you all to read!
BYE!
